I love my job because of the wide range of people I encounter- with all of their unique traits, strengths, life stories, and challenges. I enjoy being part of a process that helps people to realize their deepest potential and to make connections about themselves that they may not have otherwise made. After 31 years in the field, I continue to find working with people both rewarding and fulfilling surprised at the end of day when it’s time to go home. My therapy style would be best described as eclectic, and I like to incorporate other creative forms of expression; writing, art, music if they are interested. I’m also very interested in exploration of spirituality and how that may play a role as a part of overall mental health treatment. I began my counseling career in 2013 after finishing graduate work at Syracuse University. I completed my internship at the Syracuse VA where I treated veterans diagnosed with PTSD and other severe/persistent mental illnesses. Since then, I’ve worked for two community mental health clinics (first in Cortland, then in Syracuse) treating diverse populations suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, OCD, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and substance abuse. My clinical approach is an eclectic and ever shifting combination of CBT, DBT, psychodynamics, existentialism, feminism, and whatever else I can ethically and competently deploy to help individuals to achieve their goals. I joined the PHC family in April 2020. I work with teens and adults.

I am a Ph. D. psychologist and NY Mental Health licensed. I lived in New York City and worked as a faculty member, teaching psychology courses at a few universities at the beginning of my career. Then, I have been practicing psychological evaluations and psychotherapy with people of different ages and from different cultural and bilingual background trying to increase their knowledge of their potentials. I am also an author writing in psychology which keeps me in depth therapeutic relationships with my clients. My second book is called “Who is Controlling Your Life: The Evolution of Consciousness,” written in many short chapters. This book is an attempt to increase your consciousness about you, about your internal resources as if a genius doctor lives within you. It is about the abundance of Universal energy working within you, the knowledge of which brings the feelings of gratitude and happiness. I have also tried to increase your knowledge about the external resources that control your life. The goal is for you to learn to be an engineer to alleviate their impacts on your lives. There are many updated references and podcasts provided on each chapter for those desiring to enhance their information in that area. I always owe my knowledge to my co-therapist, “you,” to dig into learning and to resolve the problems.

Hello. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and a 1996 graduate of the Syracuse University School of Social Work. For 19 years I worked for the Rape Crisis Center of Syracuse and then for Vera House, Inc. after the two agencies merged. For the past 7 years I’ve worked for Psychological Healthcare. I have experience working with clients with symptoms of PTSD, and the effects of sexual abuse on sexuality and personal relationships. I also treat people who experience anxiety, depression, chronic illness, grief and loss, and I incorporate conversations about healthy relationships and spirituality into our work as needed. I enjoy helping clients discover their ability to have conversations instead of arguments, and learning the boundaries involved. I have been working in the field for about 20 years now, and have been at PHC for about 10 of those years. I started out in social work then eventually went back to get my doctorate. I proudly wear both hats. while we sometimes talk about difficult things, I don’t believe therapy has to be painful process so I try to be casual and easy-going. I believe in making the world a better place, one person at a time. I tend to focus on irrational thoughts, which we all have, and challenging those thoughts. I tend to focus on the positive, when things go well and how to maintain that into the future. You will almost never see me without a hat on.
